Choose The Right Mattress
Choosing Your New Mattress Doesn’t Have To Be Confusing…
Choosing your new mattress can be as simple as 1, 2, 3!
To help you take the confusion out of choosing the right mattress we’ve used our experience to hand-pick a select range of mattresses that offer differing levels of support and varying levels of comfort.
While there seems to be a never-ending choice of support systems, fabrics, comfort layer types and advice, initially there are only three factors for you to consider:
1 - Support
The support system in your mattress should be designed and constructed to cope with the rigours of people sleeping on it for at least 7-8 hours a night.
Where there are two people on a mattress there is usually some compromise being made for differing heights and weights, and the support system should also be able to account for this compromise.
Our range of mattresses include the unique Hybrid support system and superior High-Density foam support system. Both the Hybrid and High-Density foam support systems offer exceptional “minimal partner disturbance”. Simply put, there is minimal movement across the mattress when one person moves, which means a less disturbed sleep.
The Hybrid and High-Density foam support systems are specifically designed for mattresses, rather than using a cheaper general purpose spring that will initially provide some comfort but minimal support. By being designed specifically for mattresses, you can be assured that you’ll be getting the optimal support while you sleep.
2 - Comfort
Levels of comfort required vary widely, so our range of mattresses offers a diverse range of comfort levels.
Typically, mattresses come as either soft (“plush”), medium and firm comfort levels. However, comfort is a very personal feeling, so across our range we have varying comfort levels – one to suit every body!
The top comfort layers in our mattress range are designed to provide more than just comfort. There are a variety of unique materials used in the comfort layers that are matched with the support system to provide varying levels of comfort and support. The mainstay of the comfort levels is a Gel Air Foam, which is exceptionally good for relieving pressure points through the shoulders, spine and hips. It also has the added advantage of being gel-infused, which means it will retain less body heat for a more refreshing night’s sleep.
The best way to check your optimal comfort level though is to try the range, but we do have our 100 Night Comfort Exchange Guarantee to give you peace of mind that you’re choosing the right comfort level with your new mattress. You can check our 100 Night Comfort Exchange Guarantee here.
3 - Budget
When setting a budget for your new mattress, remember that a quality mattress should last at least ten years, and that you’ll be spending around eight hours a night on it. In ten years that’s over three years you’ll be spending in bed!
A mattress is a significant investment, so it's important to choose one with a good warranty that offers sufficient coverage in case of defects or premature wear and tear.
But there’s no need to spend thousands on a new mattress. All of the quality mattresses in our range are designed for support and comfort, and there’s a model that will fit just about every budget.
And by having low overheads, we can keep the prices of our mattresses lower than you’ll find a comparable mattress for elsewhere, so you can get more value for your sleeping dollar!
We’ll even guarantee the value of your new mattress from Simply Sleep with our unique “30 Night Price Guarantee”!
If you find the same mattress at a cheaper price before or within 30 nights after buying your new mattress from us, we’ll refund the difference plus another 10%. How’s that for a guarantee!
You can also take advantage of the easy Humm “no interest” payment plan. Humm is an “at home layby”, where you leave a deposit and then pay your purchase off over time with No Interest Ever!™ You’ll find more details here.
That’s it! Initially it doesn’t need to be any more complicated or confusing than that.
Finally, be prepared to spend some time when trying mattresses. The extra time on each mattress gives you the chance to gauge the support and comfort level that suits you. You should also wear light clothing (or take off jackets, pullovers and so on) while trying the mattresses, and make sure you’re using a good quality, supportive pillow.
Choosing a new mattress can be a daunting task, given the variety of options available in the market. Here are some tips to help you choose the right mattress:
- Determine your sleeping position: The ideal mattress will vary depending on whether you sleep on your back, side, or stomach. For instance, side sleepers require a softer mattress to cushion their shoulders and hips, while back sleepers require a firmer mattress to maintain proper spinal alignment.
- Consider your body weight: Heavier individuals may require a firmer mattress to prevent sinking, while lighter individuals may prefer a softer mattress for better pressure relief.
- Check for support: A good mattress should offer proper support to your spine and joints. Look for a mattress with adequate support in the lumbar region, which helps to maintain proper spinal alignment.
- Look for comfort: A comfortable mattress should evenly distribute your weight and relieve pressure points. Try out different mattress types such as memory foam, spring, or hybrid mattresses to find what works best for you.
- Consider motion transfer: If you share a bed, a mattress that reduces motion transfer can be ideal to minimize disruptions caused by movement.
- Take note of temperature regulation: A good mattress should keep you cool and comfortable throughout the night. Look for materials that promote airflow, such as gel-infused memory foam or latex foam.
- Look for a good warranty: A mattress is a significant investment, so it's important to choose one with a good warranty that offers sufficient coverage in case of defects or premature wear and tear.
By considering these factors, you can choose a mattress that will offer the right balance of support, comfort, and durability for a good night's sleep.
